Returning August 14-16, 2015
Atmosphere was Here.
We brought a big vision to a small village: A festival that featured not just a stellar lineup but also a complete display of local food, art, visuals, and culture.
Situated in the quaint and funky village of Cumberland, Atmosphere goers enjoyed the close proximity to the waterpark (right beside us) and Comox Lake, which has additional camping and will be running shuttles at the end of each evening. With the luck of Mother Nature and the incredible weather (pre-opening downpour notwithstanding), the waterpark was a saving grace … and fun, to boot! There were also all of the sweet offerings that the downtown Cumberland shops, eateries and pubs have to offer.
We’ve strived to infuse this festival with that village vibe. The Gourmet Girls created a tantalizing community meal plan featuring local food, and guests were encouraged to bring their own plates and utensils to minimize the footprint of this event.
Also, Harmonic Arts created the very popular Elixir Temple and served up a wide array of elixirs and tonics to quench your thirst and get you in the dancing mood, which you’ll need to do because as we mentioned, the lineup is off the hook!
Chali 2na and Blackalicious to tickled hip-hop bones. Gaudi, A Tribe Called Red and Desert Dwellers sent us into orbit… and then there’s the raw and primal blues from Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, the sweet crooning of Erica Dee, and the dynamic throat singing of Tanya Tagaq. Accompanying the musical forces was visual mastery of Wax Candy, who transformed spaces into other worlds with their light magic.
We were also gifted with an exhibition by other-realm painter Autumn Skye creating live paintings, and numerous other artists providing access to their talents… you’d wonder if the main gate wasn’t a rabbit hole after all.
If you’ve been following the #ProjectIntent story online, you’ll know about our special guest arrived from overseas to make her debut at this gathering. She was larger than life and a bit over the top. The Big Top, that is. She is our community’s new circus tent and she has travelled across the Atlantic to show you a really good time.
If you didn’t make it in 2014, you’ve likely heard the stories by now, or seen the footage… it’s not legend… it’s real. An epic first year. And now we’re at it again.
Plans are already underway for 2015… Stay up to date! Get artist, ticket & fun facts by email:
